Does Advertising Work Online?
It's interesting to see the "big boys" blundering
around trying desperately to make money from
advertising online.
Do you remember the "Tower Block" ads that ran in
strips down the side of a page?
What about the "Central Box" advert which was weaved
into the middle of an article?
You have to admit, they're creative...
...but creative failures!
Think about this for a moment...
Online, the VISITOR has the power!
We're tired of having advertising shoved into our faces
night and day...
...so we resist the online "hard sell".
But what DOES work online is a "soft sell".
...by contributing to forums, by writing quality
articles, you can lead people, gradually, to the sale.
Also, unobtrusive advertising, in quality ezines, does
get results...because people appreciate that advertising
"pays the bills", and they don't mind a few ads in
exchange for free content...but they don't like to be
shouted at.
