How Not To Launch A Product
This is an example of a product launch where some
negative marketing tactics were employed...
I'm not going to name and shame people here, so please
don't ask :-)
Yesterday, I got an email from a fellow Internet
marketer saying, "there's this product coming out by
*famous Internet marketer*, would you like to promote
it"?
Normally, anyone who sends me emails like that is
only interested in getting me to sign up so that they
can earn a percentage of any sales I make...
Normally, those emails are instantly deleted.
But, I respected the fellow Internet marketer, so sent
back a polite email explaining why I wouldn't be
promoting this latest product by *famous Internet
marketer*.
I thought that would be the end of the story.
Then, this morning, I got an "important" email, with
attachments from *famous Internet marketer*'s Director
of Marketing.
(ooh!)
She said "for your convenience" she'd opened a free
trial account of the new product even though she'd been
informed by "fellow Internet Marketer" that I was
"going to pass on promoting the product for the moment".
Not true. I said, "I'll give it a miss".
So, not only did they *ignore* my wishes, they then
emailed me access instructions for a free trial account
I *hadn't* requested, and even better, they sent me
one of those awful "copy and paste" emails for me to
send out to my lists!
And all *without* my permission.
Worse, they *knew* I wasn't interested!
If they treat their potential best affiliates like
that, I'm scared to think how they treat customers!
